The mixture of beans, peas and lentils soak in water, ideally overnight. If you don't have enough time, few hours should be enough too.
After it soaked up, get rid of the water, put into new pot and pour over with 1,5 liters clean water. Add bay leaves and cook on a low heat for about 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, peel and dice the potatoes and carrots. After 20 minutes add it into the pot and cook for another 20 minutes, or until the vegetables get soft.
Season with salt, black pepper and cumin.
I thicken the soup by mixing approx. half of the soup by hand blender. After the thickening, add sliced sausage (if you want) and let boil.
Season according to your taste but I think it's usually not necessary, because the sausage is quite salty already. :-)
If you don't have pre-bought mixture, you can make your own, in the one I bought was yellow and green peas, pearl white bean, medium lentil, red lentil, Mungo bean, colour bean and Adzuki bean.
